The Research Group on Chemogenomics of the GRIB hosted last 13th and 14th October a meeting in Girona about the network of Excellence INFOBIOMED. Drs. Jordi Mestres and Montserrat Cases in representation of the GRIB met with the INFOBIOMED partners involved in the work package 6.1, which concerns the topic of Pharmainformatics.
Members of the Department of Medical Informatics of the Erasmus MC-University Medical Center Rotterdam, of AstraZeneca Research and Development in Sweden and of the Chemogenomics Lab of the GRIB met to jointly update the work that each partner carries out and specifically, to prepare the next Consortium meeting of the INFOBIOMED Network of Excellence, to be held in Aveiro (Portugal) next 8th and 9th November.
The pilot application on Pharmainformatics carries out research on the mutual impact of Biomedical Informatics (BMI) and pharmaceutical research, considering aspects as application of the computational genomics to the identification of potential drug targets, structure-based computer-aided drug design, virtual screening (including chemogenomics approaches), early in silico prediction of ADMET (Administration, Distribution, Metabolism, Excretion and Toxicity) properties and computational support to pharmacogenomic and pharmacogenetic studies.
Next work package 6.1. working meeting will take place at the beginning of 2006, probably in Rotterdam, at Erasmus MC-University Medical Center premises.
